Job Seekers FAQ

  • How much does an account on lawjobs cost?
  • All the candidate tools on Lawjobs.com are completely free. Employers pay a fee to post their open positions.

  • How can I tell if a posting is from a recruiter or an actual employer?
  • Recruiters are identified in the EMPLOYER field and often specify what kind of company they are working with to fill a position. The Lawjobs.com database consists of jobs posted directly through Lawjobs.com, and from ALM's classified newspapers located throughout the U.S. If you'd like to search open positions posted directly by employers and/or recruiting agencies, you may do so through the advanced search option.

  • Who can see my resume? What are my privacy settings?
  • Lawjobs.com offers three resume setting: Private, Confidential, Public. Private means your resume in not searchable in the job database, and only the employer of the position you've applied to will be able to see it. If you select "Confidential", the resume is searchable, but your contact information is omitted. Employers can email you, but your email address is "xxxx" out. The third option, "public" will allow your resume to be fully visible to employers that access the resume database.

  • What format should I use for creating my resume?
  • We recommend keeping the resume format as simple as possible since the majority of employers choose to have Lawjobs.com forward a copy of the resume embedded within an email.
  • You may now create your resume via 3 tools
Build-a-Resume: Fill out fields to craft a resyume from scratch
Cut-and-Paste: Copy your document and paste the contents into the resume box
