Donna Berger has seen an increase in the quality of attorneys seeking jobs at her midsized law firm since the economy's sharp downturn. "There's an incredible pool of talent out there," says Berger, managing partner of Katzman Garfinkel Rosenbaum, noting that the pool includes "people that wouldn't otherwise be looking for jobs." So while some firms are going through layoffs or hiring freezes, others are able to cherry-pick for top talent, with a lot of resume shopping being fueled by economic anxiety.
