Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has added a team of five lateral food and drug partners to its Washington, D.C., office.
Gary Yingling, Robert Hibbert, Ann Begley, Anthony Pavel and Rebecca Dandeker, formerly with K&L Gates, bolster Morgan Lewis' Food and Drug Administration and health care practice. Yingling, Hibbert, Begley and Pavel maintain their former status of partner with their new firm. Dandeker, formerly of counsel at K&L Gates, also joins as a partner.
Yingling worked in the FDA general counsel's office in the early 1970s before entering private practice. He focuses his practice on regulatory issues related to food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics.
Hibbert is a former U.S. Department of Agriculture official at the Food Safety Inspection Service. He focuses his practice on food safety, food security, animal health, biotechnology, labeling and advertising. Begley is from a nursing background and has experience with homeopathic and drug clinical trial matters.
Pavel focuses on food industry issues like food safety, ingredient approval and marketing. He also counsels medical device firms on regulatory matters.
Dandeker advises pharmaceutical companies on product approval and lifecycle management issues and pioneer and generic drug companies on regulatory issues.
In an interview, Hibbert said the team made the move to Morgan Lewis to add to the firm's deep FDA bench with the hopes of growing business.
"It's premature to talk about our clients, but we have between the five of us, a pretty diverse practice," Hibbert said. "What we're looking to do is integrate and grow."
