Ropes & Gray Adds to Hong Kong Office

Ropes & Gray has added two new partners to its Hong Kong office. Julian Chung, formerly a capital markets partner with Norton Rose, will launch a Hong Kong law practice for Ropes & Gray. Gary Li, previously a counsel in the Hong Kong office of Paul Weiss, will join Ropes & Gray's private equity team.

The breaches are expected to lead to issues of first impression, but the ultimate valuation of such cases is still a big unknown, say attorneys.

Washington University Launches Online LL.M. Program
The National Law Journal
Washington University in St. Louis School of Law is the latest to add an online LL.M. The program, set to start in January 2013, will allow foreign lawyers to complete a master's degree in U.S. law without leaving their home country. Administrators hope to enroll 20 students during the program's inaugural year and eventually as many as 100.

Herbert Smith and Freehills to Vote in June on Tie-Up; Weil Rethinks Referral Links

Partners at Herbert Smith and Australia's Freehills are set to vote on their proposed tie-up next month, with integration planned for Oct. 1. Initially the firms will be financially independent, although the intention is to merge eventually. The proposed deal has prompted Weil Gotshal to reconsider its referral relationship with Freehills.

Cooley's Florida Campus More Popular Than Forecast

Thomas M. Cooley Law School launched its newest location near Tampa, Fla., on Monday with 104 students -- nearly twice as many as administrators initially expected to enroll. Critics of Cooley's decision to open the campus had said the Florida law school market is saturated and that graduates would have a hard time finding employment.
