Monica Gordo knew she wanted to be a lawyer since she was a little girl but she wasn't "bitten by the trial bug" until she interned in the state attorney's office. She discovered she wanted to be a judge after prosecuting the case of a girl killed by gunfire as she played in her front yard. Gordo credits her parents for instilling in her a desire to "find something I had a passion for."
